Patient-Based Orchestration

MidTech's Secret Sauce

Using state of the art business rules and process orchestration technologies and methods, Patient-Based Orchestration (PBO) is our exclusive business process integration (BPI) implementation model developed by MidTech. The PBO is a patient centric information hub that harnesses the power of a flexible rules engine to analyze and aggregate care events against your organization’s defined processing rules. By connecting to your current integration server and applying process rules, the PBO compiles data from every connected application used by your healthcare facility and delivers up to date and timely analysis of your business. PBO harnesses the power of that data to impact patient care and business goals as it happens.

Impact organization goals
PBO allows you to define business rules and thresholds for data that relate to your unique healthcare needs and goals. If your quality guidelines (internal, JCAHO, etc.) require certain treatments for a given condition, PBO can track patient data to ensure all the right treatments occur at the right time. In addition, the system maintains records for patient care that can be aggregated to simplify quality reporting in the future.

A simple real-life example
For instance, if every heart attack patient should be given an aspirin when he arrives at your facility, PBO can establish alerts that remind hospital staff to administer this treatment. If staff fails to give an aspirin after a specified period of time has elapsed, reminders continue. In fact, all priority items are easily identified in a computer dashboard. This proactive analysis and alerting towards the underlying processes related to care quality metrics will improve your metric performance.

Months later when you report quality and benchmark metrics to the appropriate agencies, such as JCAHO, the record of every patient’s treatment that relates to those metrics is automatically aggregated and reported, thereby simplifying and reducing the cost of your record collection and review process.

PBO can also track and find issues related to patient satisfaction and cost reduction ( such as duplicate test orders) and optimize revenue cycle management by profiling reimbursement rules.

What can PBO do for your facility?

Improve Quality. Staff receives reminders for any treatment, therapy or schedule you define. Important care events are no longer missed or duplicated.

Ease Reporting. Patient treatment records in relation to defined process rules are automatically generated and stored. Reports can be generated automatically, and can be delivered in real time via dashboards.

Help You Manage Risk. Your practitioners can see the difference between what treatments have been given and what needs to be given. This minimizes the risk associated with omitted tests, missed therapies and lower quality metric performance.

Improve Financial Performance. Duplicate tests and procedures can be caught before they have negative cost impacts while billing and claim processing rules can be profiled to improve revenue cycle management.
